Grass Clippings / Leaves and Limbs: PROCEDURES FOR  YARD WASTE Pick Up

The Baroda Village Maintenance Department will pick up your grass clippings IF they are placed in a container (or bags).

We ask that containers be placed on the property line with an adjoining neighbor.  You will receive one warning notice if your yard waste is not in a container or on a property line.

The Village Maintenance Department will also pick up your leaves IF they are raked to the edge of the street.

Please do not mix small limbs or branches in with the grass clippings or leaves. Place small limbs or branches in a separate pile, bundled up in 2 to 4 feet sections or placed in a container and they will be glad to pick them up on a separate load.

If you prefer, you may purchase green yard waste bags for your grass clippings and/or leaves to be picked-up by Michiana Recycling on the regular trash pick-up day. Bags are available at the Baroda Township Office and cost $1 per bag. Please note that our Maintenance Department does not pick up the green recycling bags.

If you have questions regarding grass or leaf pickup, please contact Bubber Krone at 422-1828.

Garbage & Recycling Pickup: Your green Michiana roll cart should be placed by the road by 5:30 a.m. on Thursday mornings. During holiday weeks, the garbage should still be out by 5:30 a.m., but may not be picked up until the next day.  The filled weight of each container should not be more than 100 pounds. Residential service does not include yard waste, hazardous waste, remodeling or construction materials, earth, gravel, concrete or ashes from burn barrels or liquid material. All waste materials must be in garbage bags, no loose trash. If you are using the yellow recycling bags, please be sure completely fill the recycling bag before putting them out for pick-up.

Large Trash Pickup: (see Community Calendar for dates) Place items at the curb by 5:00 a.m. Large items such as furniture, washers, appliances, etc. will be picked up twice annually in April and October on a designated day. If you desire a large item pick-up sooner, these items can be picked up on your regular day of service; however, there would be an extra charge. This charge must be paid in advance to Michiana. We accept Credit or Debit cards or Check-by-phone. Simply call their office at least 24 hours in advance to arrange a pick-up. Refrigeration units such as refrigerators, freezers, window air conditioners, dehumidifiers, vending machine, water coolers, motor vehicle air conditioners, etc. must be accompanied by a "Certificate of Refrigeration Removal," that has been authorized by a licensed representative at the time they pick up the unit for disposal. This is a requirement of the Federal Government and Landfill Authority.

If you are remodeling, roofing building or just cleaning up, Michiana has roll-off containers available ranging in size from 10 cubic yard to 40 cubic yard. For smaller jobs they have 4,6,and 8 cubic yard containers. Please call them for pricing.  Their phone number is 1-800-722-9710.

Snow Plowing: The Village Maintenance Crew works very hard at keeping the Village streets cleared in the winter. Please be aware that there is no parking allowed on  Village Streets from 3:00 a.m. until 6:00 a.m.
