Trash and Recycling services are offered through Michiana Recycling and Disposal through a contract with Baroda Township.

We have had many questions about how the commingled recycling doesn't end up in the landfill if they are in the same trash container. All trash and recycling is taken to Michiana's Material Recovery Facility. Your commingled waste is fed on to a conveyor line where your recyclables and trash are sorted.

Large Item Pickup

Do you have any old furniture or appliances you have been looking to get rid of? Michiana Recycling and Disposal is equipped to provide LARGE ITEM PICK UP. Some items we could pick up would be couches, chairs, washer, and dryer, stove just to name a few. Just call our office to schedule it!

Prohibited Items

Due to Federal, State and Local regulations, or possible damage to our equipment, the following is unacceptable items or materials that Michiana Recycling & Disposal Services cannot pick up from our customers:

Tires
Oil
Propane Tanks
Refrigerators
Freezers
Air Conditioners
Dehumidifiers
Paints/Thinners
Solvents
Hazardous Materials
Medical Bio-hazardous Waste
Car Batteries
Pesticides
Animal Wastes
Ashes
Yard Waste (unless in our specially marked recycling bags)
Construction or remodeling materials (in our residential or commercial containers)
Dirt, concrete, earth, sod (in our residential or commercial containers)

You may contact your local government offices to see if they may sponsor a household hazardous waste collection day or have an alternative site for disposal of the above items.

Holiday Schedule

Michiana Recycling & Disposal Services observe six major holidays per year. On these holidays our offices will be closed and our drivers will be off. These six holidays are as follows:

New Years
Memorial Day
July 4th
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

Residential Services: If your day of pick up falls on or after one of the holidays listed above, your service will be delayed one day for that week. If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday your service will not be affected.

Commercial Services: If your day of pick up falls on or after one of the holidays listed above, your service may be delayed one day. We do catch up on our pickups by the end of that week.
